I have watched a few films recently that have suprised me by how good they have been, so I thought that, over the next week, I would write a short review about each of them:

Land of the Lost

On his latest expedition, Dr. Rick Marshall is sucked into a space-time vortex alongside his research assistant and a redneck survivalist. In this alternate universe, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka, their only ally in a world full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures. – www.imdb.com

After Anchorman I waited a long time for Will Ferrell to make a film that actually made me LOL, then Step Brothers came, finally, we thought Will Ferrell was back on track making funny films, however it looks like that could have been a fluke. Whilst Land of the Lost offers a few good gags, there were no moments of the pure comedy genius that we were served in the aforementioned films.

The funniest character in the entire film was Chaka, their primate friend who didn’t speak English throughout the film, which goes some way to tell you the quality of the writing. Anna Friels accent was suspect, to say the least, was she supposed to be an upper class English girl or a Yorkshire Lass? Will Ferrell’s performance was mediocre, though there were a few points that you could glimpse that comedy gold that is evident in Anchorman & Step Brothers.

Overall it was an OK film, one that you shouldn’t go to the cinema for, nor really buy the DVD, instead put it on your list on Love Film and get round to watching it some day.
