Cole plans duet with Snow Patrol…

Cole/Patrol

Cheryl Cole is to duet with rock band Snow Patrol at this week’s Children in Need’s charity concert.

The X Factor judge will sing Martha Wainwright’s lines from the Snow Patrol song Set The Fire To The Third Bar at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday.

Frontman Gary Lightbody told the Spinner Music website that some people had “raised an eyebrow” when they heard about the collaboration.

The BBC has denied reports that Robbie Williams will sing with Take That.

‘Not true’

The Sun newspaper said Williams, who left the band in 1995 to launch his solo career, would perform with Take That at the gig, which has been organised by Gary Barlow.

But a BBC spokeswoman said that was “categorically not true”.

Speculation about Williams re-joining Take That has increased since the singer told Jonathan Ross on his Friday night chat show that there are plans for him to perform with the band again some time in the future.

The 35-year-old said: “We’ve got together, done bits and bobs. I can’t say much.”

Meanwhile, Lightbody said there were other unexpected duets planned at the charity concert.

“Everyone doing that gig has to duet with someone from the gig,” he said.

“Everyone gets a partner, it was like getting a partner at school. We got the prettiest girl in the class.

“People have raised an eyebrow now and again when we’ve mentioned we’re doing it with Cheryl Cole but I think it’s going to be a really interesting experience.”

In October, Barlow told Radio 1 breakfast show presenter Chris Moyles that each act would be doing two songs, but promised there would also be “three or four one-off duets that have never been seen before”.

Other acts taking part in the charity gig include Muse, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey and Dizzee Rascal.

Minogue discusses Cole relationship….

cheryl & dannii

Dannii Minogue has opened up about her relationship with her The X Factor co-star Cheryl Cole, admitting they aren’t close friends after all.

The pair has repeatedly brushed off reports of a rivalry and put on a united front by posing for snaps together, but the Australian pop star has revealed she and Cole only chat about superficial “girlie” matters.

And Minogue insists she never asks her colleague about her personal life, including her marriage to Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole.

She tells OK! magazine, “I wouldn’t say we talk about personal stuff, just girlie stuff like clothes and boys and men. There’s a lot written about her personal life, which I would never ask her about. It’s her business.

“If she wanted to speak to me about that then fair enough, but I would never sit her down and bring it up.”

Their relationship was said to have improved after Minogue landed a £250,000 pay rise, putting her on equal level with Cole, although the duo never became close.

But the 38 year old has praised the Girls Aloud star for sticking by her last year when she was attacked by the press for her on-air spats with fellow panellist Louis Walsh.

She adds, “When I was going through bad times, she was very good, she would always come and see me to see how I was, but no one ever saw that – that’s the way she is and how she handles it.”

Cheryl set for record single sales…

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole’s first solo effort is set to become the biggest selling single of the year, the Official Charts Company said.

Cheryl Cole’s first solo effort is set to become the biggest selling single of the year, the Official Charts Company said.

First day sales of the Girls Aloud and X Factor star’s first single – Fight For This Love – have already surpassed last week’s record-setting No 1 Bad Boys by Alexandra Burke, who Cheryl mentored on the TV talent show.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: “Her first day’s sales are just amazing and put her in pole position to top the Official Singles Chart on Sunday – she is likely to set the sales standard by which everyone will be judged for the rest of the year in the run-up to Christmas.”

Cheryl performed her new song on Sunday night’s X Factor results show with a sexy, Cold War-themed routine.

Supporting her from the audience was husband and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole and her bandmates from Girls Aloud, along with a peak TV audience of 14.8 million viewers.

However, the Geordie star attracted criticism for miming some of her vocals and relying on a backing track.

X Factor, Week 2 Results Show – A review

Rikki Loney

WOWZA!!!! What a show, it was like a rollercoster, ups & downs, smiles & tears.

First things first, the exclusive performances! First up was Cheryl Cole and her solo debut! ‘Fight for this Love’ is a catchy song, I found myself humming it throughout the show! And to put all her critics wrong, she sung live and boy did she sing…and dance! Costume was good, dance routine was immense and she showed us why she won Popstars:The Rivals and earned her place in the Biggest Girl Group in Britain. Well done Chezza!!!!!! Next up was ‘The-one-and-only’ Whitney Houston, and man was that a strange performance. Arguably the biggest star that has ever graced the X Factor stage, but something was just not right!!! The performance was blighted by her dress, not only did the strap come undone but she had to keep hoiking up her dress like a 30 year old Essex lass at a wedding! I don’t remember the song, maybe because it wasn’t very good, or maybe because I was just to preoccupied with the wardrobe malfunction, wondering whether we are gonna see more of Whitney than we expected. Then, her chat with Dermot….erm…..I thought she had kicked all that stuff??? Seems to me like a theme for the performances on the results show is ‘People who have been hooked on drugs, but supposedly have kicked the habit, but haven’t actually!!’ And is it just me or has she had a lot of plastic surgery??? I don’t mean to be so crytical about such a superstar, but it has to be said!

The group song was much better this week, I didn’t know the song, but it was a song better suited to be sung by a group, and the vocals seemed a lot more tuned!

Then the results, and unfortunately one of my predictions came true. As I mentioned in my review of Saturdays show, there is a danger of John & Edward becoming entertaining, in a John Sergeant type way, and people voting to keep them in. Obviously this happened, and on top of that somehow Miss Frank avoided the bottom two, meaning that two people were in the bottom two that should definately not be there. Rachel gave one of the best performances of last nights show but people are obviously not voting for her, and Ricky was unfortunately given a song that meant he was already coming from behind, that said he made a good job of it. In the end, both of their Survival Songs were great, but Rachel had more of a ‘I really want this’ attitude, reminiscent of Ruth Lorenzo from last year. It is unfortunate and perhaps unfair that Louis wasn’t there, as who is to say who he would have voted for, and I think if it had gone to a dead lock there is a high chance Rachel would have gone. Anyhow Rikki left us, perhaps 3 or 4 shows too soon.

Hewis Request:- Anyone voting for John & Edward, stop now, enough is enough, this is no longer a joke!

Sack the Stylist Week: What with Whitneys Dress and Danni’s hair, someone needs to be given the marching orders!

Next week is Big Band week, with performances from Westlife and Michael Buble.  Looking forward to hearing the song choices, as soon as I hear any rumours I will let you know!!

Cheryl Cole Will Sing Live, Sort of………

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole is to perform her new single ‘Fight For This Love’ on X Factor this weekend. But will she sing live, or will she mime as Alexandra Burke did last week?

Cherly admitted she was very nervous about the performance on Monday’s Chris Moyles show, saying:

“I’m absolutely terrified. The nerves started weeks ago. It’s really here and happening on Saturday. I love performing but I’ve sat for weeks judging people and now I’m putting myself out there to be judged.”

Reports in the Daily Mail suggest that she will mime, but surely all her fans want her to sing live? If it’s good enough for the contestants…

She has insisted that she won’t be miming when she performs her new single on Saturday night’s X Factor – but she won’t actually be performing it on Saturday night at all.

Instead, Cheryl is to pre-record her performance ‘live’ before the show, because of timing issues.

“I really don’t see the problem. I will be singing live, I just won’t have time to get changed and get prepared for the performance, and be a judge on the show. It would be too hectic.” Cheryl was quoted as saying in the London Evening Standard.

X Factor….My views so far….

 x-factor

So with bootcamp over, the topic of x-factor related conversations has gone from ‘I like/hate the new format of the auditions’, to ‘Who’s gonna win?’. So here is my predictions of what is gonna take place from now until the final:

Judges houses, who will make it to the live show?

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole & The Boys:

1.Duane Lamont   2. Rikki Loney   3. Ethan Boroian

Duane Lamont                                Rikki Loney                            Ethan Boroian

Duane looks and sounds modern and I genuinely think there is room for him in the pop market. Rikki has the bouncebackability factor, and Cheryl will find it hard to send him home from this stage for a second time. Ethan is the eye candy for the girls, not a great voice but if my flatmates views represent the views of the country then he will stay and stay for quite some time, however there is only so far looks can get you! I can’t honestly say that there is anyone in this group that will win X-Factor this year.

Danni Minogue

Danni Minogue & the Girls

1. Rachel Adedeji    2. stacey solomon  3.Lucie

Rachel Adedeji                                 Stacey Solomon                       Lucie Jones

Slightly sticking to the last formula, Rachel is the cool, modern one, with a voice to match think Rhianna with Amy Winehouse vocal capabilities. Stacey is the character of the group, the typical Essex Girl who also has the ’sob-story’ that she has a little baby to provide for. Lucie Jones however is someone I think could make the final, she has one of the best voices in the competition, but something is telling me that she doesn’t have that little extra something to actually win the whole thing. The only other one that could be in the final 3 and a little bit of a black horse is Stacey McLean, as she is already a D-list pop star apparently so Danni may want to go with someone who has a little experience in the industry. We shall see….

 louis walsh

Louis Walsh & The Groups

1. John & Edward     2. kandy rain    3.Miss Frank

John & Edward                               Kandy Rain                             Miss Frank

Well what can I say? The groups this year are definately the worse since X Factor begun, not a hint of a JLS or even a Same Difference!!! John & Edward are the most annoying creatures to ever grace the X Factor stage, but Louis will pick them because of the Irish Connection. Miss Frank is a group put together at the last minute because there was an obvious lack of talent in the group auditions, it most likely Louis’s idea though so he will put them through to prove himself right. Finally the only group that may stand half a chance is Kandy Rain, purely because they look like a group, think Pussycat Dolls without any decent singers. My predictions are that all of the groups will go out before any of the others.

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell & The Over 25’s

1. Jamie Archer2. danyl johnson3.Daniel Pearce

Wow, have I saved the best for last. This group is so good that I can’t decide on the third one. Jamie Archer is a pop star, he already looks like he should be on stage at Glastonbury, his rendition of Sex on Fire made me dance in my seat and I think he will go fire. Danyl Johnson has THE best voice in the competition, and although he wasn’t great in bootcamp, in my opinion he is the one to beat. And then it comes to between Daniel Pearce, Nicole Lawrence & Olly Murs; I think Olly is likeable but don’t think his voice is strong enough, he showed that in a mediocre performance of Elton John’s Your Song, so he is a no. But it is tight between Nicole & Daniel, Nicole has a great voice, she is the female representation in the overs and she has a sob story which we know Simon likes. However Daniel has proved he can win (he was a winner in Pop Stars-The Rivals, the TV show that shot Cheryl Cole to fame), and he would inevitably sell more albums than Nicole would, which after all is what Simon is looking for which is why I have gone with Daniel, but we will have to see!

Who will go out each week?

So here is the order in which I think each act will be eliminated;

Week 1: John & Edward, surely they can’t be kept in!

Week 2: Miss Frank, they just don’t bond together, get them off!!!

Week 3: Kandy Rain, Louis has a mental breakdown as all his acts leave first!

Week 4: Ethan Boroian, As I said earlier, there is only a certain point that looks can get you to, and that’s week 4!

Week 5: Duane Lamont, Just doesn’t have the extra umph to get any further in the competition.

Week 6: Stacey Solomon, It’s curtains for the Essex girl as the judegs realise she can only do ballads.

Week 7: Daniel Pearce, Should be in the final, but will come up against someone like Jamie or Lucie and the judges will keep the youngsters in.

Week 8: Rikki Loney, He’s good but not good enough, as the Scot heads back up North!

Week 9: Rachel Adedeji, Unfortunately comes up against Jamie and the judges plump for the most versatile of the two.

THE FINAL: Jamie Archer, Danyl Johnson & Lucie Jones reach the final. Jamie teams up with the Kings of Leon for a superb rendition of Sex on Fire, Danyl Johnson sings a duet of my endless love $with Mariah Carey and Lucie Jones joins Miley Cirus for a rendition of her new Christmas Ballad!

3rd Place goes to Jamie Archer

2nd Place to Lucie Jones

And the winner of X Factor 2009 is………….. Danyl Johnson!

X Factor Judges Revealed…..

X Factor

According to www.xfactorblog.co.uk the Judge’s have found out who they will be mentoring and it is as follows:

Dannii Minogue – Girls (16-24)
Louis Walsh – Groups
Simon Cowell – 25s and Over
Cheryl Cole – Boys (16-24)

The only thing that I can see wrong with that is that Danni Minogue is still a judge! Simon Cowell is obviously a very clever man, so why has he not realised that there are soooo many other people out there that would MUCH better in that role? Here is my top 3 of who I would like to see take over from Danni Minogue:

1. Sharon Osbourne (Bring her back! She was the life and soul of the show!)

2. Kylie Minogue (Much more successful than her sister)

3. Mel B aka Scary Spice (Great personality and knows what it takes to make it in pop)

Oh well, its still gonna be a great show! Will try and post regularly on all things X!
