Model Katie Price quits I’m A Celebrity…

Katie Price

Model Katie Price has walked out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after a week on the ITV show.

Viewers of the programme, which is set in the Australian jungle, have voted repeatedly for the former model to be put to the test in “bushtucker” trials.

Explaining her decision to leave, Price said: “It’s not about the money, it’s not about winning for me – I just don’t want to be here anymore.”

A spokesman said there were “no current plans” to replace Price on the show.

The 31-year-old added: “I really miss my kids, I’ve done my challenges and people can see that I’m genuine.”

‘Closure’

On Sunday, when Price was picked for another trial involving a snake pit, she told her campmates: “Someone else will have to do it – I’m just not doing it any more.”

“I don’t need to be here, I’ve done my bit. I’m not in it to win it – it makes no odds to me career-wise if I win or lose.”

Price, also known as glamour model Jordan, had begged viewers to stop nominating her for tasks.

But on hearing she had been chosen again, she said: “I suppose you get into a routine.

“The routine is I go out to work to bring back the food… I’m the breadwinner.”

The 31-year-old returned to the Australian jungle last week, five years after first appearing on the programme.

She said she hoped it would bring “closure” to her relationship with ex-husband Peter Andre, with whom she became close while appearing on the show.

Meanwhile, Andre wrote in New! magazine that he has not watched Price in the jungle.

He said: “I know everyone is desperate to know what I think of I’m A Celebrity this year, but I swear on my life I have not watched one episode.

“I know if I do watch it, people will ask me what I think all the time! The kids haven’t seen it either, as it’s on far too late for them,” he added.

Price is the second celebrity to quit the show – former Strictly Come Dancing dancer Camilla Dallerup left after a matter of days after struggling to cope with the lack of food and sleep.

Camilla Dallerup quits the jungle…

Camilla Dallerup

Former Strictly Come Dancing dancer Camilla Dallerup has quit ITV1’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! just a few days after the show started.

The 35-year-old left the Australian jungle overnight after a difficult few days in camp where she was struggling with the lack of food and sleep.

She said she was so exhausted she was having difficulty summoning the energy to have a shower.

An ITV spokesman said that former boxer Joe Bugner would replace the dancer.

“It’s not eating. Heat, I can deal with,” Dallerup said.

“I’ve got the highest metabolism of anyone I know. I feel useless being here so tired. You can’t help anyone,” she added.

The past few days have seen the dancer in tears as she struggled to cope with the conditions.

‘Too early’

Martin Benson, the show’s series producer, admitted to GMTV on Wednesday that he was worried about her.

“I’m very scared about Camilla, she had a meltdown the other night and she’s not been eating that well – the whole camp is worried about her,” he said.

But Mr Benson added that it was “way too early” for anyone to leave so soon into the series and had been talking with Dallerup to convince her to stay.

“What I do is call her up to the Bush Telegraph and tell her to calm down, to drink some water, to eat some food and to get a good night’s sleep and reassess the situation the next day,” he said.

“I make sure the medics watch her at all times,” he added.

The ITV spokesman said more details surrounding Dallerup’s departure would be given later.

Hamilton leads Celebrity line-up…

Im a celebrity!

Veteran Hollywood actor George Hamilton and former glamour model Samantha Fox are among contestants in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

They will be joined in the Australian jungle by ex-EastEnder Lucy Benjamin, Strictly Come Dancing’s Camilla Dallerup and TV chef Gino D’Acampo.

How Clean Is Your House? star Kim Woodburn is among other contestants.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will again present the ITV1 show, which returns on Sunday.

The line-up is completed by Hollyoaks actor Stuart Manning, Sabrina Washington – a former member of girl band Mis-Teeq alongside Alesha Dixon – and interior designers and partners Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan.

Secret plans

Former Dynasty star Hamilton, 70, said there was no chance he would “wuss out” of the show’s bushtucker trials.

“There’s an old saying that a coward dies a thousand times but if you’re brave you only die once,” he added.

“It’s like when a fly hits the windscreen, it doesn’t think anything. So if you hear a splat, that’ll be me.”

He said he had kept his jungle plans secret from his friends.

“None of my celebrity friends will be watching as they currently think I’m on a yacht in the South of France with a silk robe on and a glass of champagne in my hand, surrounded by beautiful women,” he said.

Fox, meanwhile, said she had always seen herself “as a bit of a female Rambo”.

“I’ll jump out of a plane, no problem,” said the 43-year-old. “What I am scared of is creepy, crawly, wriggly, horrible things.”

She said she was glad she would be filmed “under the waterfall in my bikini”.

“I’m a 43-year-old woman and everything’s natural about me, which I’m really proud to say, and I just want to show women in their 40s that we can still look great.”

Actress Benjamin, 39 – who played Lisa Fowler in EastEnders between 1998 to 2003 – said it would be the first time she had been away from her daughter Bessie, who will turn four while her mother is in the jungle.

“From the point of me leaving her and getting on that plane out there, that is going to be the worst part for me.

“So, if I can deal with that and get through the other side when I land I’m going to have a great time and just say, ‘I’m going to give it my best shot’.”

This all the participants have chosen to raise money for the same charity, Malaria No More UK.

“I’ve travelled a lot and seen malaria first hand, like when I was in Kenya,” Fox said.

“I’ve had friends who suffered really badly from malaria and it’s so important that Brits educate themselves before they go away on holiday.”

It has been reported that model Katie Price – who met ex-husband Peter Andre in the third series of the show in 2004 – is going to join contestants in the jungle.

An ITV spokeswoman said: “Katie Price’s participation in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is speculation.”

Last year’s series was won by another former EastEnder, Joe Swash.

Tennis player Martina Navratilova finished in second place while Star Trek actor George Takei was third.
